8. Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Former Emir Of Qatar ($2.4 Billion)
In 1995, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani became the Prime Minister and Emir of Qatar. He was Prime Minister for only a year and a coup d’etat claimed his power in June 2013. As a result, he didn’t die, but still retains power in helping Qatar become one of the wealthiest countries in the world.
Thanks to the natural gas market in the country, he and his country have become quite wealthy. Before leaving power, he was able to convince FIFA to host the World Cup there in 2022.
